Connect email sending

Add the SMTP connection

Open SMTP settings

Use the SMTP settings area to add the provider details, sender identity, and authentication method for the account you want CareerATS to use.

  1. Double-check the from name and sender email before saving.
  2. Use the right provider and authentication flow for the mailbox you are connecting.

Choose company or personal scope

Use company scope for shared sender identities and personal scope only when a specific recruiter should send from their own account.

  1. Most recruiting teams should prefer company connections for shared sending.
  2. Use personal scope only when it solves a real ownership or deliverability need.

Set a default sender only when needed

A default sender affects what recruiters use without thinking. Only mark a connection as default when it really should be the primary sending option.

  1. Do not create multiple competing defaults if one shared sender is enough.
  2. Archive or retire old connections when they are no longer used.

Verify before recruiters start sending

Open SMTP settings

After the connection is saved, confirm it appears correctly in the list and is available where templates or email composition need it.

  1. Check scope, sender identity, and default status in the list view.
  2. Test from the actual sending surface if you are changing a live provider.
